Description
Periodic excursions to nearby points of interest can be arranged. North Conway (45 minutes/36 miles away) is a quaint ski village with abundant shopping and factory outlet stores. Littleton (30 minutes/21 miles away) is an award-winning "Main Street" which also has many nice stores and restaurants. Our lodge is a center for hiking and outdoor recreation in the White Mountain National Forest. Many hiking trails are accessible right from the lodge. The Saco River flows southeast and the Wild Ammonoosuc flows northwest from the height of land. Our road runs through a narrow notch in the mountains, as do train tracks that are now used for a tourist train. The Notch was the site of the old Crawford House, a large White Mountains hotel. There are many activities available in the nearby area, including skiing at Attitash, Bretton Woods and King Pine Ski Area. You can also take the famous Cog Railway to the top of Mt. Washington - home of the worst weather in the world! Students have 4 free night's stay at any of the AMC's other back country huts or lodges to use during their employment.

Housing:
Each room has a 2-bunk bed, a fan, and an organizer for clothes and personal items. You should expect to share your room with another employee. There are shared bathrooms in the dormitory. There is a lounge with microwave and refrigerator. Coin-operated laundry facilities are located on the floor. Staff Wifi and a shared staff computer are available. Three meals are provided daily.
