Justina - English in Cambridge

14 year old Justina tells us about her experience in her Study Trip to Cambridge, UK.

How was your experience? What surprised you?
The truth is that it was an unforgettable experience. I loved everything, knowing the historical part above all. I was also very surprised to see the order and discipline. Our hostess's daughter, for example, studied three languages and had fixed schedules for practicing musical instruments.

What would you recommend to someone who is about to do the same experience as you?
I would recommend them to go, and not fear, that this is going to be a different, unforgettable and beautiful experience!

Do you feel that the experience changed you? How?
Yes, it changed me. I became much more independent, even more responsible! Especially with money. It is another way of living that opens your mind.

Tell us about a typical day in your study trip
I lived with two other girls who were also in my homestay. First we woke up, we got ready to go to school, and there were days when we had breakfast ready and other days when we prepared it ourselves, depending on the parents' schedule. Afterwards, we would walk to the bus stop, we had a public transport card that lasted a month (we used it until the very last day!). We would get down the bus at the stop near the cemetery and from there we walked to the school. At school we had activities with teachers in the morning, and in the afternoon they had optional workshops. The school schedule ended at 3 pm in the afternoon and from there we sometimes went to Cambridge, different museums or to visit universities, sometimes we had the afternoon off and then we would go shopping or visit a historic site, for example. After the walk we returned to our houses and there we had dinner. On some excursions we would eat out with our group leader.

How is the place where you lived?
The house was beautiful in my opinion, and very large! We were three girls plus the family, which was the parents and the daughter. They received us super well. I remember when we arrived, we were asked to make a list with food or meals that we couldn't have or didn't like so they could prepare the menu. I still keep in touch with the family, especially with the daughter. They were very warm and included us in all their programs. For example, sometimes we joined them for movie nights.

Did you visit other places?
Yes, we went to Scotland, which was what I liked most about the trip. The other places were more touristy and there were more people. I was completely in love with Scotland. Plus, when we crossed the border, there was a snowfall, and there we all got off the bus and it was very nice, especially since for some of the kids it was the first time they were experiencing snow. We also visited London 2 or 3 times, and went on several excursions such as the Zoo, and although the weather didn't always favor us because it was raining, we had an amazing time. We saw two musicals, The Lion King and Aladdin (the latter was my favorite, I was very moved).

All this information is very useful for us and for the kids who want to travel with the program so we appreciate your cooperation!
Thanks to you! I would go back a thousand more times.
