Leonardo is 19 years old, studies Industrial Engeneering and tells us about his experience as a Houseman in Whitefield, NH.
Name: Leonardo F
Age: 19
Profession: Industrial Engineering Student
Company and position where you work: Houseman - Whitefield, NH
What is the experience for?
My own experience serves as a way to become independent. Learning to live together, which here at the beginning was a bit hard but then little by little we all adapted. I came with a friend who works at another spring near here.
What is the work environment like? How is the relationship with other coworkers?
Just when we arrived the supervisor of our area had changed, so there were many changes that made us sometimes uncomfortable. For example they made us change everything that was inside a warehouse and in the end they had to change it again because the supervisors did not agree. That was a bit tiring.
What are the best things about work? And the worst?
The best is the pay haha. I am bringing home an iPad, an iPhone for me and my mom, lots of clothes and an acoustic guitar worth USD 600. I am a musician so I love it. I also liked the way they solve problems at work. I had a cool manager and supervisor. They understand you if you are frustrated or if for example there is a lack of staff. And the worst is what happened to me that I just arrived when I was changing the staff, and the decisions that constantly changed at the beginning. And that there are days that I worked 14 hours a day for 7 days in a row that I almost died haha.
What do you do on your days off?
Oh, no! I hate them! Haha. Sometimes we go to a little town. Or the Walmart that is one hour away. We are planning on going to Manchester soon and to the Nashua Outlets. Something that made it very easy for us was to buy a car among several people.
What would you recommend to someone who would like to follow in your footsteps?
Mainly I recommend that you have patience when you arrive and especially with the issue of living together. Here it was a little intense the first month. For example, there was a boy who would play music and another would come and turn down the volume and things like that. Then everything calmed down but at first there were some crashes.
