What is the experience for?
Mainly to have the experience of working with other people. Know how to handle the environment. I never cooked before and I am very good at it haha. Also to grow, have to be without dad and mom, ... A number of things!
Is work as you imagined?
No haha. In the contract It did not specify the work I was going to do, when I signed it I had several tasks. At first they put me in a dishwasher and then they changed me to the kitchen.
What is the work environment like? How is the relationship with other coworkers?
We had a great time, we made many friends.
What are the best things about your job? And the worst?
The best ones I was placed in the kitchen with a boy from Chile and another from the Dominican Republic. And the worst that I started with the left foot with my boss, we had a lot of friction. Luckily I talked about it and I solved it and the situation improved. And I would also say that the schedule sometimes because we finish very late some days, if the restaurant closes at 10 at night, until we finish everything we leave at 11:30 or even at 12 sometimes.
Could you travel to other places?
Yes, we were able to go to New York City several times and tomorrow we are going to Miami!
What surprised you the most?
I was surprised that each state is very different. I had already come to the USA but not to New Jersey.
What would you recommend to someone who would like to follow in your footsteps?
What a difficult question! Mmm… First they don't generate expectations, make sure that the contract is fulfilled and finally, fight for your rights!
