Killington, Vermont
From Cordoba to Vermont! Ceci is 26 years old, and it's her second year travelling with us as a participant of the Work & Travel program. Now she opens up about this unique experience
Name: Cecilia P
Age: 26
Profession: Law Student
Destination: Killington, VT
Company and position where you work: The Cleaning Crew, Inc. - Kitchen / Lodge Cleaning
What is the experience for?
The experience is great for me for the job opportunity, the responsibilities that it implies, the fact of being away from my family, and to make friends with me from all over the world, is what always led me from this incredible experience. I have two jobs so I'm very busy, but I'm happy.
What is the work environment like?
Very good. This year we do not have a supervisor, we self-supervise ourselves, and that on the one hand is good but on the other we sometimes struggle with those who work less haha
How is the relationship with other coworkers?
Super good, super cute groups were formed, with great people.
What are the best things about your job? And the worst?
The best part is that we do what we want, we can pace the tasks in our own time. And the worst is that without a supervisor sometimes we do not know what we have to do, especially at night.
What do you do on your days off?
In my days off I go snowboarding, sometimes watch series, I get together with friends, I sleep, we go to eat or we travel somewhere.
Could you visit other places?
Yes, we went to Boston three days, to New Hampshire, New York City and Washington DC. In 2015 I came as an Au Pair, and in 2016 I visited a friend who was working in Park City, Utah, doing the Work & Travel. I loved it and so it was that this is my second year doing the program.
What would you recommend to someone who would like to follow in your footsteps?
I would recommend that they do some thinking about the place and the job especially that you want to do. Many come to do this program without knowing what it means to be a lift operator or clean. It is still a job and you have to be responsible.
I would also tell him to have an open mind, that they will be far from his or her family and that it is an incredible experience.
All this information is very useful for us and for students who want to travel with the program so we thank you very much for your collaboration.
