-We would like to know how you are and how you feel, as a participant in the Volunteer program in South Africa.
The program was amazing, it was nothing to see as I expected, it was much better. The people were super friendly
We went to schools a lot, the people I organized were a love, they cared for you, they wrote you every week on WhatsApp, seeing if everything was ok, if I needed anything. It is an experience that changes you, it was amazing.
-What is the experience for?
It helped me to open my mind a lot, see other realities, see things that we don't see in everyday life. And more than anything that. The English also noticed that I improved a lot. The first day when I arrived, it cost me more, then it's all in English, so I re-practiced.
- Is work as you imagined?
What I did was go to different schools, mostly kindergarten, between 4 and 5 years. And there we helped the teacher, to sleep them to feed them, sing songs to them.
We went to a school of deaf children, although we did not know sign language, it was very beautiful.
One day we went to a project that is still in its infancy, which is to give sanitary towels to the school with girls.
-How is the work environment? How is the relationship with other coworkers?
The work environment was amazing. Very good relationship with everyone. Now that I was there we were 5 girls, all friendly, they were all between 19 and 30 years old. Very willing to help with everything.
-What were the best things about your job? And the worst?
The best ones: I liked the project a lot. When we sang with the boys they were all happy. We were also going to tour with the other girls in the volunteer.
Worse: there isn't, I loved everything!
-What did you do on your days off?
We were going to tour the city, which you have from the beach to the mountains to go climbing. Also organization has activities that some are paid and others are not. You can write down and go for example to the Garden Route, to a dinner in a villa, they took you and brought you free from the beach. Also at night we went to bars.
- Could you meet other places?
The Garden Route, 9 hours from Cape Town. We went with the organization and with other volunteers, so it was super fun.
-What surprised you the most?
How the boys there with how little they have how happy they are. They saw us and became super happy. They looked at you surprised, eager to play with you, to chat with you. Very nice everything.
-Any anecdote that you take as a souvenir?
The first day we arrived, I imagined that I was going to be much bigger people, I did not go with the idea of becoming friends, and when I arrived at night with my newcomer friend, they invited us to join where all the boys from approximately our age, re good vibes. We became all friends.
There were many Brazilians, volunteers from the Netherlands, Swiss, from Saudi Arabia, France and three Argentines.
-What would you recommend to someone who would like to follow in your footsteps?
Do not think much and go. Do not be afraid, it is a super cute experience and you will not regret it!
