What this visa allows

You can volunteer in South Africa on a tourist visa for a duration of up to three months. A tourist visa can be extended once while in South Africa. For longer stays, you will need to apply for a volunteer visa at the nearest South African Embassy.

Application process

Booking Your registration results in the existence of a contract upon written confirmation from our agent in South Africa. Alteration and Cancellation An alteration fee will be charged for alteration of bookings made before a cancellation fee applies. For alternations received thereafter, the cancellation fee applies. Notice of cancellation before arrival must be given in writing. 

Medical insurance and flights

We strongly recommend that you take out full personal insurance cover. This should include cover for medical expenses, protection against theft, and protection against loss of fees, should the whole or part of a programme or activity or accommodation not be attended.

As a volunteer, you are required to take out medical insurance before travelling to South Africa.

For a stay of up to 90 days, your medical insurance at home might cover you. You can also check whether your credit card covers medical expenses.
