Everything you need to know to apply, from age and English requirements to the documentation you need.

Who can participate

Work & Travel USA is for full-time university or college students aged 18 to 27. You can take part from the CBC or first year up to the last year of your degree. The program lets you live and work legally in the United States during your break, with a J-1 visa, while you practice your English, gain international experience and travel around the country.

Your English level

You need an intermediate or advanced level of English that lets you get by in a work environment. When you sign up, you have an English interview with us, followed by the interview with the employer. Your level, together with the dates you can travel, determines which destinations and positions you can access.

Availability and documents

The program involves about three months of work, plus time to travel. You travel from December to March, during your university break. To get started you need a passport, a CV and proof of enrollment. The visa is processed with the DS-2019 form, issued by an authorized sponsor; the SEVIS fee and the consular fee are your responsibility.

How you get your job

With the Full option, we find your job offer and handle the DS-2019 with the sponsor. With the Independent option, you find your own offer and we validate it. Positions include front desk, housekeeping, kitchen, cashier, barista and ski or snowboard instructor, with pay depending on the job offer. Enrollment opens in January: book an info session and get started early.
